WOODS- western Order of Druids

WINTER SOLSTICE

The hours of day are now grown short, the Sun is standing still.
The Oaken crown is laid aside as Holly claims the hill.

That time is come when all's asleep, held safe within the Womb,
resting now and gathering strength, awaiting time to bloom.

Take note my friends, and mark this time, learn lessons from the Earth,
We too must pause along our way, preparing for new birth.

Now you have shed your withered leaves, set seed for a new year,
return that waste into your soil, bring food from strife and fear.

For, as the forest leaves rot down providing good nutrition,
so too can hurt and injured pride become a new contrition.

This time of rest and soul renewal is gently gathering pace
awaiting the kiss from Brigid's lips to bring us to new grace.
